Mathias causes a stir with his shocking phrase “We’re not in China here”
The hearing of Mathias Pogba yesterday, as part of the trial involving his brother Paul, was marked by great tension.
This Friday, the Pogba trial continued at the Paris criminal court. Among the six defendants, five have already been heard, but Mathias Pogba, Paul's older brother, has not yet spoken. Despite the president's expressed wish to hear her testimony, the hearing was postponed.
According to West Francearound 9:10 p.m., after a day of endless debates, the president expressed her intention to question Mathias, triggering strong opposition in the room. Mathias' lawyer, Maître Mbeko Tabula, strongly protested, declaring: “How can we, in a human rights country, interview a person in such conditions? He is risking his freedom, his life is at stake. We are not in China. » Mathias himself, who had remained silent since the start of the debates, claimed not to be able to respond that day.
Schedule constraints complicate the situation
Even Paul Pogba's lawyer, Maître Carine Piccio, pleaded in favor of a suspension. After deliberation, the president decided to postpone the hearing until Tuesday, December 3 at 9:30 a.m., the date corresponding to the last day initially scheduled for the trial. However, this postponement creates a major difficulty: a single day may not be enough to conclude the debates. Faced with this constraint, the president raised the possibility of extending the trial to Wednesday, Thursday, or even the following week.
