’11 years in the making’… Michael Owen makes excited point about Man United under Ruben Amorim
The Ruben Amorim era is in full swing after the new Manchester United head coach picked up his first win.
Manchester United came from behind to beat Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League on Thursday night.
It was Ruben Amorim’s first match at Old Trafford and he treated fans to a five-goal thriller. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come.
Amorim was frustrated with United’s display against Ipswich but, while it certainly wasn’t a perfect outing against Bodo/Glimt, there were clear signs of progress.
Rasmus Hojlund was the star of the show after setting up the opener and scoring either side of half-time to complete United’s comeback.
Amorim has brought a fresh wave of optimism to United fans and former Red Devil Michael Owen is a big fan of the Portuguese head coach.

Amorim admitted United will have to “suffer” in the short-term as players adapt to his 3-4-3 system, but just two games in there has been signs of promise in terms of positioning and patterns of play.
A lack of identity and style of play was one of the biggest criticisms aimed towards Erik ten Hag, but under Amorim fans can see a way forward. On top of that, he has delivered exciting football.
During the match, Owen took to social media to voice his opinion on United under Amorim and he believes he has brought the entertainment factor back to Old Trafford.
He posted: “It’s been over 11 years in the making but @ManUtd are all of a sudden good to watch again! Improvement required everywhere you look but this is now a team with potential written all over it.”
Ruben Amorim has started well at Man United
Owen is spot on about United under Amorim. Fans are already buying into his system and style of play, but also understand that patience is required.
Joining midway through the season has only added to the difficulty of the job, but Amorim has made a bright start.
Amorim promised fans would see an “idea” of his style early on, and he is delivering on that promise. Every training session and match is a learning experience for Amorim and his players, and United will continue to improve.
Next up is another home match against Everton in the Premier League. Amorim will want to see further signs of progress from his players, but he has also admitted rotation is necessary.
There are exciting times ahead for United under Amorim.
