“I have to reestablish certain truths, he does…”, Emmanuel Eboué makes surprising revelations about Didier Drogba
Emmanuel Eboué has decided to no longer remain silent in the face of repeated attacks targeting his former teammate Didier Drogba. The controversies surrounding the Ivorian striker, particularly concerning the missed penalty during the CAN 2012 final against Zambia, pushed Eboué to re-establish certain truths.
Some critics had accused Drogba of having deliberately missed this penalty to prevent Ivory Coast from winning the trophy, putting forward arguments that were as far-fetched as they were insulting. But Gabrielle Lemaire's companion chose not to respond to these rumors. This silence was not shared by Emmanuel Eboué, who forcefully defended himself:
“Among the footballers most proud of their country and ready to give everything for Côte d'Ivoire, Didier Drogba is on the front line. I've heard absurd things like he missed the penalty because he's Bhété. It's ridiculous and petty. Didier deeply loves his country, he has proven it time and again, all over the world. »
This intervention is not the first time that Emmanuel Eboué has spoken to defend Drogba. A few months earlier, another controversy erupted after a generous gesture from the former Chelsea player. Drogba had offered balls and sports equipment to the Eboué training center, an initiative which was initially welcomed before attracting ridicule.
In a video published at the time, Eboué expressed his gratitude:
“This morning, my big brother Didier Drogba gave me 10 quality balls for my training center. Thank you and long life to you. »
These words triggered a wave of criticism on social networks. But, determined to silence the bad tongues, Eboué returned to the charge with details:
“Since the creation of my club, Didier Drogba is the only one who has supported me by sending me balls and equipment. And he promised me that this was just the beginning. I'm looking forward to it! »
This position testifies to the esteem and deep friendship which unites the two former Elephants. Despite the controversies, Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboué continue to show their solidarity and their attachment to Côte d'Ivoire.
