France Football releases an announcement a few days before the verdict
The winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or will be revealed on Monday October 28. On this occasion, France Football makes every effort to ensure that the ceremony takes place in optimal conditions.
According to several sources, notably the newspaper Marcathe Brazilian Vinicius Junior would be tipped to win the prestigious trophy thanks to his exceptional performances with Real Madrid, which contributed to the conquest of the 15th Champions League by the Merengue club.
Nike, its sponsor, would have already anticipated this victory by preparing golden shoes especially for the event. Although Marca does not clearly explain the reasons for this announcement before the time, the official ceremony remains scheduled for October 28 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
“What Vinicius Junior achieved and his major influence in Real Madrid's success last season has dispelled all doubts,” says Marca. The competition, made up of his teammates Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal, Kylian Mbappé, and Rodri from Manchester City, would seem to be left behind according to the newspaper.
An additional clue reinforcing the probability of Vinicius' coronation: Nike plans to reopen its store on Gran Vía in Madrid, two days after the ceremony, with a golden tribute to the Brazilian striker, thus joining its other icons, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mbappé. The golden shoes would already be ready for this special occasion.
The 24-year-old striker has been one of the big stars of Real Madrid's 2023-2024 season, with a total of 24 goals and 11 assists in 39 matches in all competitions. On the other hand, his performances with the Brazilian selection were more modest, Brazil having been eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Copa América.
The voting process
The vote for the 2024 Ballon d'Or is reserved for 100 journalists from the top 100 nations in the FIFA rankings. Each journalist must establish a ranking of 10 players with a scale of points: 15 points for the first, 12 for the second, 10 for the third, and so on until the tenth, who receives 1 point.
Voting began at the end of September and continues until early October. It is important to note that only player performances during the 2023-2024 season are taken into account. Performances from the 2024-2025 season should not be considered in the final vote.
