In an exclusive interview with the French newspaper The Teamthe coach Hervé Renard spoke about her plans after her experience with the French women's team.
Renard, 56, said he is looking to lead a national team with a chance of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
He revealed that he had seriously considered the offer from the Nigerian selection, but after reflection, he preferred to refuse it: “It was the best offer I received, but it didn't completely convince me. »
Renard's contract with the French women's team ended after their quarter-final elimination at the 2024 Olympics. He nevertheless remains a highly sought-after coach, having already won the Africa Cup of Nations with Zambia in 2012 and Ivory Coast in 2015.
Very cool interview with Hervé Renard by@SyaneDalmat. To read.
He confirms that he rejected (after hesitating) Nigeria which was the only interesting offer and that he wants to take over a selection which will be able to play the 2026 World Cup… https://t.co/wloPld5ptq
