Dismissed by a General Assembly this week, the president of the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT), Jean Guy Blaise Mayolas, did not abandon his post and convened with his executive committee an extraordinary General Assembly this week under the eye of CAF and FIFA.

Jean Guy Blaise Mayolas, more contested than ever within Fecofoot.

This Tuesday, September 27, a General Assembly was convened under the leadership of the “Collective of members of the General Assembly of Fecofoot”. Problem is, FIFA had expressed reservations in an official letter asking to “postpone” this assembly because of worrying information received (notably forged signatures, editor’s note) and other political pressures linked to the long-term conflict between the president of Fecofoot, Jean Guy Blaise Mayolas, and the Minister of Sports, Hugues Ngouelondélé.

Finally, the General Assembly decided to remove Mayolas and appointed an ad hoc committee to manage current affairs and organize new elections within 90 days. However, the legality of this decision is not shared by all stakeholders in Congolese football.

FIFA – CAF mission sent to Brazzaville

Quickly, the Executive Committee of Fecofoot (under the aegis of Mayolas) convened an Extraordinary General Assembly this Friday, October 4 under the visit of a FIFA – CAF mission specially seconded to Brazzaville. Which raises a question: who currently runs the federation?

For its part, FIFA had already warned Congo of a possible eventual suspension in the event of interference. If the idea of a normalization committee exists – if the different parties cannot reach an agreement – the world football body currently supports President Mayolas in his rights and has not recognized the decision of the September 27 with this ad hoc committee.
