“We are going to win the World Cup”.. Samuel Eto'o believes in Africa!
The boss of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto'obelieves in the ability to Africa to win a World Cup in the near future.
“ I have the ambition to see an African country be world champion » he said on the sidelines of his visit to Alima Football Academy At Congo.
“ The development of Africa necessarily requires the development of infrastructure. In our field, it is a privilege to arrive here in Congo and to see such modern infrastructure » he added.
“ I will say our dream has become a reality. The luck we had in our time was that we played without having the means to evolve in modern infrastructures on our continent. » he concluded.
Africa favorite for the 2026 World Cup?
Several African nations have managed to leave their mark in the flagship competition in world, including in particular Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002, Ghana in 2010…
That said, the best performance was achieved by Morocco who ranked 4th in the last edition of the World Cup, which took place at Qatarbehind Argentina (world champion), the France (vice-world champion) and Croatia (3rd in the competition).
It is worth remembering that Africa will be represented by at least 9 nations during the next edition which will take place in North America in 2026.
