Sébastien Haller receives strong support from his trainer
Already struggling for his debut at Leganés, Ivorian striker Sébastien Haller received support from his coach, Borja Giménez.
Loaned by Borussia Dortmund since the end of August until the end of the season, Sébastien Haller is already the subject of criticism in Spain. Indeed, the new center forward of Leganés has not yet found the net after 4 matches, including 3 as a starter. Following the draw against Rayo Vallecano (1-1) in La Liga on Saturday, supporters particularly pointed the finger at the center forward of the Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire (27 caps, 10 goals).
The confident coach for Haller
During the post-match press conference, coach Borja Giménez was keen to defend his 1.90m striker. “We believe that Haller will bring us decisive chances, his actions are quality and he will end up scoring, because he always does”said the 39-year-old coach, showing patience.
He also spoke of the need for the team to better adapt to the profile of this striker, who regularly positions himself in the last meters facing the opposing goal. “His characteristics are those of a player who lives close to the surface. For this, he needs the team to play as close to the opponent's box. We remain very calm”added Giménez.
In addition to the support of his club coach, Haller also benefits from the trust of his national coach. Friday, when announcing the list for the matches against Sierra Leone on October 11 and 15, as part of the CAN 2025 qualifiers, coach Emerse Faé renewed his confidence in Haller.
However, the striker would be well advised to quickly find the net again, at the risk of losing his place, both for club and national team.
