CAF: Stadium inspection, lunar turn with Japoma, 16 days before Cameroon
Experts from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) are currently in Cameroon for the stadium inspection visit. While the delegation was to go to Japoma in Douala this Thursday (supposed to host the next match of the Indomitable Lions against Kenya), astonishing news fell.
FECAFOOT, through a letter addressed to the ONIES administrator, announced an inspection visit to the stadiums by CAF for this week. If the revealed program indicated that the experts from the governing body of African football were to start with the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé yesterday Wednesday (17), to continue this Thursday with the Japoma in Douala (9 a.m.), the Ngueme in Limbé (3 p.m. ), before continuing on Friday with the Olembe of Yaoundé (10 a.m.) and ending on Saturday in Bafoussam with the Kouekong (10 a.m.), an upheaval took place.
The twist with the Japoma
Indeed, this Thursday, while it is the venue due to host the next match of the Indomitable Lions as part of the CAN 2025 qualifiers against Kenya on October 11 which was to be inspected by CAF, the checks were not carried out. did not take place. According to information, the inspection of Japoma Douala is postponed to a later date. This is a real surprise. Today, we do not know if it was an unforeseen incident with the CAF experts that led to this last minute postponement or if it was on the ONIES side that things went wrong.
Whatever we say, when we know that this is the place which will host an important match between Cameroon and Kenya in about two weeks, it is a big surprise. Note that at the beginning of September, FECAFOOT selected this stadium for the match on the first day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers between the Indomitable Lions and the Brave Warriors of Namibia. But the ONIES of Joseph-Antoine Bell, which manages the sports infrastructures at 237, opposed it.
If it was the Roumdé Adjia stadium in Garoua which was finally the scene of this poster, the Samuel Eto'o Federation returned to choose the Japoma in Douala for the upcoming match on October 11. A few days ago, CAF validated this stadium, which is close to FECAFOOT's heart, to host an Indomitable Lions match under Marc Brys. We are waiting to see what happens regarding this postponement of the inspection visit scheduled for this Thursday.
