Mbappé targeted by serious accusations in France

Kylian Mbappé, often at the center of discussions, recently considered joining Liverpool after unfulfilled promises by PSG in 2022, according to L'Équipe. A revelation that provoked a strong reaction from Christophe Dugarry, who criticized the excessive involvement of the Bondynois in the affairs of the Parisian club.

Kylian Mbappé continues to make headlines, and not always for his performances on the pitch. Recently, the newspaper L'Équipe revealed that the current Real Madrid striker had seriously considered joining Liverpool after his disappointment with the unfulfilled promises made by Paris Saint-Germain management when he extended his contract in May 2022. This revelation caused a strong reaction from Christophe Dugarry, former French international and now consultant, who did not mince his words on RMC.

Dugarry, never one to shy away from harsh criticism, expressed his incomprehension over Mbappe's situation. He was particularly shocked by the idea that the 25-year-old forward had considered Liverpool because of unfulfilled promises, including the failure of signings such as Bernardo Silva. “When I hear that Mbappé said yes to Liverpool because he didn't get this or that or Bernardo Silva at PSG or whatever… But man, you're a player, you're a coach, you're a sporting director, what are you? It's unacceptable, I've never seen a guy do that,” he blurted out vehemently.

For Dugarry, Mbappe's situation goes beyond the realm of just being a footballer, which he believes is a real problem. As a player, he believes that Mbappe should not be so involved in recruitment decisions and internal sporting affairs of a club, but should focus solely on his performance on the pitch.

Dugarry did not hesitate to criticize Mbappé's evolution, believing that the player had lost what made him strong: his simplicity and humility on the pitch. “Mbappé's problem is that he has lost all the simplicity that made him strong”he said. According to him, the player is now more concerned about his image and his place in the French team than about his game.

The former 1998 world champion did not mince his words and even denounced what he perceived as Mbappé's drift towards politics and image management to the detriment of his sporting career. “He thinks about his image, his money, what he represents with the Blues… You're imploding in mid-flight,” added Dugarry, visibly frustrated by what he considers to be a disconnect from the field.

Dugarry went even further by directly attacking Mbappé's recent performances, which he considers insufficient. “He no longer thinks about football, he thinks about politics, about giving his opinion, he is lost. […] If we talk about his performances, he should go to the bench because he deserves it.”Dugarry said. For him, the French football star is too preoccupied with external factors, such as his influence and his role as leader, which negatively impacts his performances on the field.
