Florentino Perez makes a strong decision for a key executive!
Real Madrid are keen to keep one of their biggest assets. According to AS, Florentino Perez, president of the Madrid club, is happy with Dani Carvajal's performances and is considering giving him the captain's armband in the future.
Dani Carvajal, one of Real Madrid's most experienced and influential players, is under contract until 2025, but rumours suggest that an extension could be on the cards. According to Diario AS, Florentino Pérez wants to keep the Spanish defender for at least one more season, confirming the confidence he has in him, despite his 32 years.
From the 2025/2026 season, Carvajal could claim the captaincy, a role that could be given to him following the probable departure of Luka Modric, who will celebrate his 40th birthday next year. If the Croatian midfielder were to leave the team, Carvajal would become the longest-serving player in the squad.
Dani Carvajal's career is closely linked to Real Madrid, with only a season at Bayer Leverkusen in 2012/2013 as a break. Since his return, he has accumulated 421 appearances for Madrid, scoring 13 goals and providing 64 assists.
Although his statistics are not spectacular, several of his goals have been decisive, including in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund. In terms of titles, Carvajal has won the Champions League six times, as well as four LaLiga titles, among other major trophies.
