Manuel Ugarte now undergoing Manchester United medical as Paris Saint-Germain deal being finalised
Manchester United are on the verge of another signing with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte finalising his move.
This has been a pretty productive summer for Manchester United with Ineos taking charge of their first summer transfer window.
Erik ten Hag will be pleased with the recruitment this summer, kickstarted by Joshua Zirkzee arriving from Bologna.
Wonderkid Leny Yoro then signed from Lille before Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui joined from Bayern Munich.
Three defenders and a striker have been snapped up but it’s now time for United to add another midfield option with transfer deadline day fast approaching.
Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United latest
United’s top midfield target throughout the summer transfer window has been Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.
Other deals have been prioritised but United now appear ready to bring Ugarte in.
Ugarte was given permission to travel to England on Tuesday with United agreeing a deal worth around £50million.
Ugarte then hinted that the move was close and United are now moving closer and closer to finalising the transfer.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Ugarte is now undergoing his medical ahead of officially becoming a Manchester United player.
Romano adds that documents are being exchanged today with Ugarte set to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
Ugarte is thought to have landed in Manchester on Tuesday night and is now putting the finishing touches to his move today.
Midfield moves for United
News of Ugarte being on the verge of signing for United comes as one midfielder’s departure is made official.
Hannibal Mejbri has signed for Burnley on a permanent basis after a difficult loan spell at Sevilla.
The Tunisian has spent five years at United but is now heading to Turf Moor for first-team action under Scott Parker.
Another exit is imminent though as Scott McTominay prepares to sign for Napoli.
This one is an emotional move for United fans as McTominay’s long association with the club comes to an end but United have chosen to cash in on the Scot, paving the way for Ugarte’s arrival.
Ugarte will now arrive as a real defensive midfield option and at just 23, he will hopefully have a huge role to play at Old Trafford for years to come.
