Federico Chiesa has broken his silence on his move from Juventus to Liverpool, as the Italy international was spotted heading to England.

The Italy international is set to become the second signing of the Arne Slot era, following the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. Liverpool have agreed a deal worth €13m, with possible add-ons, and Chiesa will sign a four-year contract with the Merseyside club.

Chiesa was spotted after the deal was announced, with images being shared on social media via @GiovaAlbanese. He said: “Ready to start this new adventure, I wanted to say goodbye to the Juventus fans. Thank you for your affection and for these years I will carry you in my heart.”

Chiesa had been heavily tipped for a move away from Juventus this summer, with Newcastle United also interested in the Italy international. The 26-year-old, who has been selected for Euro 2024 with Italy, was deemed redundant by Juventus following the appointment of Thiago Motta as coach. With his contract at the Turin club expiring next summer, Juventus were desperate to secure a deal before the end of the transfer window.

Last season, Chiesa scored nine goals and provided two assists in 33 Serie A appearances, earning him a place in Italy's Euro 2024 squad, where he started in three of Italy's four games.

As mentioned, Chiesa will join Mamardashvili at the club, but the Georgian goalkeeper will not be under Slot's command until next season, as he will remain on loan at Valencia. Chiesa will therefore be Liverpool's only new signing for now.

Mamardashvili, who shone for Georgia at Euro 2024 this summer, was a key part of his side's unexpected success in the group stage. The 23-year-old kept 13 clean sheets last season for Valencia in 37 La Liga appearances, and also had an impressive penalty record, stopping three of the six shots he faced.
