Coach Kaba Diawara sacked!
It's over for the Guinea coach. Two years later, the Guinean Football Federation announced the end of its collaboration with Kaba Diawara.
A surprise announcement has shaken Guinean football: Kaba Diawara is no longer the coach of Syli national A. Appointed in October 2021 to replace Didier Six, the Guinean technician was thanked after two and a half years at the head of the national team. The Guinean Football Federation (FGF) justified its decision by a “lack of results”.
In a press release, she explains: “This decision was taken due to the lack of achievement of the sporting objectives that had been contractually set. The objective initially assigned to the outgoing staff was to advance the Syli National A among the top 10 African nations in the FIFA rankings over a two-year evaluation period. Unfortunately, this objective was not achieved, which led to the need for a strategic reorientation.”
The departure of Kaba Diawara marks a turning point for Guinean football. The FGF will now have to find a new coach capable of reviving the Syli National A and leading it to new successes. In the meantime, the FGF has set up a transitional board of directors to ensure the interim until the end of the CAN 2025 qualifiers.
“To ensure an effective transition and ensure continuity in the preparation of the next deadlines, it was decided to set up a transitional board of directors responsible for the technical management of Syli A. This board of directors will be in place until at least November 2024, a period corresponding to the end of the qualifications for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN)”announced the FGF before appointing Michel Dussuyer as the head of the said transitional board.
“This board of directors will be placed under the supervision of the National Technical Director (DTN) and will be coordinated by Mr. Michel Dussuyer, former coach of the Syli National, recognized for his great experience and reputation in the world of football. His in-depth knowledge of African football and his past experience at the head of the national team constitute a major asset for this transitional period.”
