Can 2023: Fiasco in Ghana, the coach was attacked
The defeat of the Black Stars of Ghana against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde was badly received by the Ghanaian supporters.
Indeed, André Ayew's partners compromised their chance of qualifying for the second round by losing in the opening match 1-2 against the Blue Sharks. A result that could have serious consequences for the rest of the competition, since Ghana will face Egypt on the second day (January 18 at 9 p.m. at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny stadium).
Egypt is in a hurry, since Mohamed Salah's Pharaohs also lost points in their first match, having been unable to do better than a draw against Mozambique (2-2, this Sunday late afternoon).
Ghana coach attacked by supporter
This Sunday night's defeat disappointed Ghana's supporters. And one of them completely lost his temper, going so far as to commit an assault. Indeed, according to 10sports.com, a Black Stars fan physically attacked Chris Hughton. “A member of the Ghanaian supporters in Abidjan was arrested for an attack on coach Chris Hughton at the team hotel. It took the intervention of some Ghanaian diplomats present on site to save the coach. The unidentified man was handed over to the Ivorian police,” wrote Saddick Adams, an African sports journalist, on his X account.
